Cooking or Cooked: The Prep Phase

Hey Marcherites, Josh here!

At this point, most of y’all probably know Sam/mad.lad and myself/Windrunner pretty well, and some of our recent alter egos as the Knechtmaxxer and Ea-Nasir if you’re around the Discord fairly often. We're here to announce our new article series!

We recently started joking about writing a competitive play blog for the website, but decided a straight-up wargaming tactics format would be a bit drier than we really wanted to explore. Instead, we’ll be taking a more comedic tack with what we’ve titled “Cooking or Cooked.”

In this article series, we’ll have lists submitted anonymously with no context as a file export from New Recruit, and we’ll pick some of the most intriguing dishes to assess for good ingredients, the chef’s presentation, and how saucy they feel.

You’ll get to enjoy some back and forth between our Marcher personas as Sturmpioneer Johann who is more concerned with stews than trenches and a Knecht named Jurgen that would rather be breaking apart some cinnamon crumb bread than the enemy’s skulls.

Sam and I are very excited to get this hopefully entertaining community-driven series going. Our goal is to help players old and new get exposure to list building, synergies, and refinements that you can use to push your own creativity and concepts to new heights.

You can always get a recipe online, but until you start substituting your own ingredients and seasonings it can’t really be yours, can it? We’ll catch you all sometime in July with our first article, covering one or two lists that we find to be really great starters to get this series moving.

If you'd like to submit a list for consideration, you can do so through this link, and remember to always season your dishes well!
