Welcome to the new website!

Welcome to the new website!

Would you look at that – a proper Marcher blogpost, on a proper Marcher website? Indeed, after many years of jolting along the winding road of success in our woodpunk cart of a website, we have finally upgraded to proper metal sheets. If you'll pardon my French, I like to see it as La Jamais Contente (“The Never Happy”), the first road vehicle to reach a speed of 100kmh (that'll be 62mph for most of you) – always needing attention, but an achievement whose pieces we hold together with the power of love and electricity.

GDG website – 2026, decolorised

It is a genuine pleasure to finally unveil this new website, as you guys have been asking for it for a long time. In fact, it was a surprise to discover how many of you were using the old website and putting up with its shortcomings, sometimes only to access the rules. It really speaks to the passion our game inspires, and that means a whole lot to us. We hope the new website will prove a significant quality of life improvement in that way, and make all things easily accessible to the players.

It is also a fantastic opportunity to centralise things that have been all over the place for a long time. The lore has already been moved and edited in compatibility with the website, and you can access it through The Compendium (it's in the menus). You no longer need to go on a sidequest through the jungles of WorldAnvil to access our lore, and the same goes for our artwork. You need a lore article? You got it. One of the beautiful Marcher maps? You got it. Well-aged French cheese? Uh, no, that one we don't have. A respectable endeavour all the same.

If you're new to the work of Golden Dragon Games, the website also works as a long-needed landing page, with an introduction to the game and to the factions. You can now share a single link to introduce new people to Marcher!

The shop is another core element of the website, but that one will require a good deal more tinkering with. We'll keep you informed as we continuously work on making the website more functional, and guess where we'll let you know? You guessed it: here, too!

You're reading a blogpost right now (yeah, I'm a bit of a psychic), and many more will come as we bring over our Game Log, Game News, and Announcements of all kinds. The reliance on Discord has been a very valid concern to some of you, and while we will continue to maintain the server as normal, very few things will be Discord-exclusive. Feel free to hop in and join the conversation though! It's a great place to chat with us, follow our work in progress more closely, and interact with the community.

Of course, having this place is a big deal for the team as well. Products, lore, artwork and news all belong here, which greatly facilitates our work and internal collaboration. Our Lead Writer Zach will be delighted that he won't have to fight WorldAnvil's linebreaks when editing lore anymore, as he can fight Shopify's linebreaks instead!

A lot remains to iron out. As the announcement bar dutifully informs you at the time of writing (and, perhaps, reading), this is a baby website that we have yet to bring to full fruition. Expect sawdust, loose rivets, and tools forgotten under the furniture for a while as we continue to add content and improve on its looks.

As part of the website's (vaguely defined and malleable) roadmap, I can cite the following:

  • recurring blogposts on game development, rules updates, file updates, and new art (subscribe to our mailing list!);
  • announcements for new lore on the front page;
  • overhauled “About Us” and “Gallery” pages;
  • a lore primer;
  • easy-to-download game rules;
  • make sure nobody ever notices the logo is not actually aligned;
  • a newsletter;
  • an FAQ;
  • visual improvements;
  • a more exhaustive shop;
  • Printify products;
  • a membership system;
  • final list item.

In conclusion, we're very excited to bring the website to life as a platform for future developments, and we hope that the enthusiasm is shared. If you notice any bugs or if you have suggestions, we are listening and you can reach us from our Contact page, or through Discord.

See you soon!

– Eowyn
