Who are the British?
The once-mighty British Empire, though its flag flies on every continent on Earth and even among the stars of the Aether, has suffered terribly from a string of disasters, from costly wars with other Great Powers overseas to devastating famines. The manpower in service of the Crown has dwindled, and in times of desperation, cunning men have seized power for themselves.
Now known as the Protectorate of Great Britain, helmed by the Ministry of Intelligence and its will enforced by legions of mass-produced automata footsoldiers, the Watchman State is a strange and paranoid shadow of the Empire once known to the world. Watch the skies, for at any moment the Protectorate’s Merlin Capsules could descend upon you, bringing with it the wrath of the Crown and the Lord Protector…
How do they play?
The British army is one centered on table control. Whether through the deep-striking drops from their Merlin Capsules, the behind-enemy-lines ambushes of the veteran SAS, or the stubborn resilience of the ubiquitous Tommybots, the British have vast capabilities to both find their ground and keep it. If you like to ensure that every round is spent up close and personal with your enemies, there is no army better suited to that than Britain.
To supplement their mobility, the British are heavily reliant on generating great amounts of the Intel resource, and through their National Idea, the G.R.A.I.L., provides them with unprecedented control over the results of their dice rolls and, by extension, the successfulness of their strategies.
Why should I collect them?
British armies are easily the most unique-looking collection in the game, with squadrons of regimented automata and towering tripods, tanks sporting fearsome Arc Cannons, and the Merlin Capsules delivering death from above all granting you a variety of models that will stand out among the rest.
The classic British look is also represented in the form of the iconic tanks and vehicles like the Gawain Infantry Tank and the Kay Universal Carrier, ensuring that even if you prefer the flesh-and-bone troops of the Empire, they will always be riding in style.
Where do I start?
No British army worth its salt can go without the most important of the King’s loyal soldiers, the “Tommybot” Automata Infantry Section! Support their inexorable march with Technical Corporals to guide them, and “Little John” Automaton Armored Support Sections to shield them from the bolts and rifles of the enemy!
Get your army stuck into the action with Mk. VII “Merlin” Orbital Insertion Capsules, raining from the sky in a devastating barrage that obliterates everything beneath it before its cargo steps out to destroy everything around it!
