The Empire of Japan

Who are the Japanese?

A young upstart among the old European powers, the Japanese Empire has shown an eagerness for expansion that has rapidly brought them from an isolationist state in the Pacific to a powerful and technologically advanced Empire with holdings not only across the Earth but into the far reaches of the Aether.

No growth is without its pains, however, and the Empire struggles internally with endless courtly intrigues and rivalries, a multitude of forces each trying to influence the direction the new Empire takes as it moves forward into the global stage. Take up your arms for the Emperor and Japan, and teach the old world to fear the Rising Sun!

How do they play?

The Japanese are cunning masters of planning, counting on their opponents to make the first move - and the first misstep! Their National Idea grants them incredible speed, not only for their own activations, but to turn the attacks of their enemies into opportunities to strike.

Split by ideologies, the Navy and the Army make Japan two armies in one - Whether you favor the high-tech subterfuge and engineering prowess of the Imperial Navy, or take a liking to the decisive, forceful assaults of the Imperial Army, the ferocity of a Japanese army will make any foe hesitate - perhaps fatally so.

Why should I collect them?

The Army and Navy divide of the Japanese Empire ensures that every choice that a Japan player makes for a unit carries significant weight, not just to their playstyle but to the efficiency of their entire force. Whether you favor the Army’s samurai doctrines or the technological prowess of the Navy, or perhaps seek to bring the two together in a rare act of unity, your collection will be a special one marked by a number of striking, sleek models that will be the envy of your foes.

The amphibious vehicles and crawlers of the Navy and the fearsome walkers and battlesuits of the Army both present fun and distinctive painting opportunities, allowing you to personalize your minis even further.

Where do I start?

Would-be heroes of the Imperial Japanese Army would be foolish to pass over the most essential of soldiers in the form of the resilient Heishi, a backbone of ferocious close-quarters infantry whose rapid advance, carried forth by Type 94 Halftracks and supported by reliable Shugo-Yoroi Warsuits and Type 87 Chi-Wo-Kai Battle Tanks, presents the enemies of the Emperor a thunder of steel and fury that few will be able to withstand.

Those more devious types seeking to advance the agendas of the Imperial Japanese Navy will find no vehicle more suited to the task than the furious ambushes of the Type 97 Heike Amphibious Assault Gun, its plasma-cutter claws and powerful turret guns making it a danger at every range. Favoring the machinations of engineers, no Navy army could go without the Rikusentai and the dauntless Breaching Engineers, laying down a blanket of plasma and bullets from the safety of rapidly built fortifications.
