For better or for worse, 12 years of independence from the French state under the leadership of elite scholars has made Versailles University an authority on Neastrian policies. The fact is often shunned by the institution itself, which professes an apolitical approach to its teachings, and it is much to the chagrin of the dean himself when VU is seen as a political school outright. The claim, however, stands to reason as it dawns on the Neastrian people that many of its future politicians will have walked down its prestigious halls, and debated there with some of the most famously opinionated minds of the time. The university, by the sheer power of the minds it employs, will shape the Neastria to come one way or another.

In contrast with its intellectual success, VU does face a more materialistic problem – funding. Initially under state patronage, it has long had to rely on scarce, albeit usually generous donors to continue its activities, most years merely breaking even financially. To address this, it was decided to be in the university’s best interest to pursue advertising campaigns. This would be the most visible part of a deeper marketing plan, involving partnerships and sponsorships of many kinds, which would bring in both students and eventual donors.

As a perk, the adverts would constitute the public outreach necessary to clarify the University’s prerogatives and political agnosticism, as well as maintain the workforce’s stability by funneling students as required into the most demanded curricula. Three birds with one stone, or as the French would put it – three hits with one stone.
